Your Nutrition
We have included this page to help patients and practitioners of Amatsu Ryoho "Japanese Integrated and Natural Medicine" understand and apply nutritional balance....
In the written records of Japanese Integrated Natural medicine (Scrolls dating back thousands of years) nutrition is abridged to 3 major factors
-
The selection of the foods that we choose to sustain and boost our energy
-
The absorption of these foods into our body and how it uses them
-
The excretion of the waste products from the food and our toxins from life
Thousands of years ago the Japanese tradition of "Hichibuku Goshinjutsu tradition of amatsu ryoho" recognized that certain foods can cause problems and imbalances within our health and mobility and that the regular consumption of certain food types can improve our prevention and recovery.
This led to the development of the classification of foods that were 'hot' or 'cold' and the foods which were either; 'neutral in effect' were good for sustaining' the foods which 'caused harm' and the foods which could help in 'healing / recovery' and the foods which can and often do cause us harm!
According to the present head of the "Hichibuku Goshinjutsu Tradition" (Integrated natural medicine from Japan - J.I.M.) These are "The forgotten foods of modern life!"
Japanese nutritional medicine is not 'based' on vitamins and minerals or calories, but on the understanding of the 'effects' of certain foods. Japanese people are by far some of the healthiest people on our planet, living longer and most importantly maintaining mobility and good health into old age.
Japanese women have the lowest rates of obesity (only 2.9%) in modern cultures. Japanese medical and martial arts traditions recommend a mainly vegetarian diet, regular consumption of fish and the regular consumption of ginger, herbs, water and 'parts' of foods which we often throw away! The Japanese consume about five times the amount of cruciferous vegetables compared to most western diets.
The most common cruciferous vegetables are those from the cabbage family: cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Chinese cabbage, cauliflower, kale and watercress. However, even some root veggies, like radishes, parsnips, turnips, rutabaga and kohlrabi, fall in this category. Cruciferous vegetables make a unique contribution to good health. They contain natural substances called glucosinolates (Phytonutrient category of foods) which break down in the body to form indoles and other compounds that fight cancer development in several different ways.
Conquering Disease through Nutrition
If you understand the In/Yo and Godai factors of food it is possible to formulate a diet that can help most medical conditions! The following are examples;
1: Beetroot
Contains "Betaine" which is scientifically proven to help 'clear out' "homocysteine" which is a major factor in all heart disease! Beetroot also cleans the blood therefore it helps in the prevention and recovery of most health conditions!
2: Blueberries
Are excellent for almost any eye disease / condition. Blueberries are packed with anti-oxidants and " Proanthocynanidins" which are atracting the attention of conventional medicine!
Shortly we will be listing more of the foods which can be used to conquer disease
Foods to avoid - Please also see our ICV page..
Refined sugars:
In the last 20 years, we have increased sugar consumption to an average of 130lbs per person, per year! Prior to the turn of this century (1890), the average consumption was only 5 lbs. per person per year! Cardiovascular disease and cancer was virtually unknown in the early 1900's. One of sugar's major drawbacks is that it raises the insulin level, which inhibits the release of growth hormones, which in turn depresses the immune system. The health dangers which ingesting sugar on a regular basis creates are well documented. Refined sugars have been observed to;
Ø Aggravate asthma and other breathing disorders
Ø Create mood swings, whilst effecting our concentration
Ø Invoke personality changes, including the increase of anger
Ø Slow down and even prevent our recovery from wounds and injuries
Ø Contribute to our development of major health conditions; diabetes, heart disease, etc
Ø Create an environment which is 'ideal' for developing arthritis
Ø Cause; joint and muscle pain - including; Lumbago, Sciatica, RSI, symptoms
Ø ETC
Just a "Thought"
According to Dr Hatsumi; "In the past it was the selection of natural foods to survive and help us in prevention, recovery and enhancement - many of these foods have been forgotten, within our modern life. Japanese nutrition selects, abandons and utilises the 'essence' of life from the foods which we eat. to continue - every vitamin, mineral, anti oxidant etc can be found within these natural foods. for example green tea is a natural anti-oxidant, goji berries, clean our liver and are rich in nutrients, reishi mushrooms can help in the prevention and recovery from allergies, combine these foods and understand prevention, enhancement and recovery!"
